Bala Vidya Mandir celebrated the 9th year of Vinayaka Chathurthi Festival. The festival spanned over 3 days from 5th Sept 05 to 7th Sept 05. We started off the celebrations with the school prayer sung by the choir. Our chief guest for the first day of the Vinayaka Chathurthi celebrations, Dr.Seergazhi Siva Chidambaram , a renowned musician lit the Kuthuvelakku.. The function was organized by the Lathangi club whose president Shishir Bail delivered the welcome address. The first participant was B. Supriya who was accompanied by D. Adithya on the mridangam. It was followed by S. Aravind on the violin accompanied by S. Anantharaman on the mridangam. Next on the agenda was P.N. Aditi who rendered bhajans accompanied by Sai Aditya on the tabla. The next performer was S. Apoorva of class VIII accompanied by U.Ananth Sriram also of Class VIII. Following S.Apoorva were the 1st standard students singing bhajans. Nest came Nivedhita.S. accompanied by G.Adithya of Class XI. Dr.Chidambaram also sang a tuneful song and was presented with a memento by our principal Mr.S.S.Nathan. The programme then continued with performance by the II Standard students. Anantha Nithya of class VIII sang 2 songs and was accompanied by V. Ananth Sriram on the mridangam. Next on stage, we had the sisters Harini and Hamsini who were accompanied by Adith Krishna. After that was the performance by the middle school group. V.Lakshmi of class XII enraptured the audience with her singing. The prasadam of groundnuts was distributed and lakshmi sang the mangalam during which the mangalaarthi was performed. RUKMINI & SHLOKA VII 'A' The Vinayaka Chathurthi celebration on 6th september 2005 started with prayer. It was followed by alternating senior & middle school students from the 7, 10, 11 & 12 standards. The middle school boys group took over after them. The chief guest of the evening was esteemed Mridangist R.Ramesh with a history of achievements to talk of and sound advice to share. His speech was followed by the primary group of 3rd standard students. After middle school & senior student sang, the senior group girls of 11th standard ended the program. Sundal was served to everybody as prasadam. Day three of the Vinayaka Chaturthi Festival(07-09-2005 / Wednesday) of Bala Vidya Mandir started with the lighting of the kuthuvillakku by honorary chief guest Kalaimani. Vasantha Krishnamurthy. The first performance was H.Poornima accompanied by Sharan Shivakumar. Poornima's voice and sharan's mridangam left the audience spell-bound. Next on stage was Dhurv Ranganathan (Violin) followed by Aarthi and Krithika (duet). Abinaya Sridhar accompanied by V.Jayanand came in next. This was followed by the introduction of the chief guest, After which the music continued to soar high. Karthik Eshwaran was accompanied by Sai Aditya and then , we had the primary group accompanied by U.Ananth Sriram. Varsha Jayshankar accompanied by S.Anantharaman was followed by K.Pryakrith with Adith Krishna. The much awaited teacher's Bhajan was the last. Truly the nightingales of BVM gave their best. The evening came to an end with the distribution of prasadam. With the music in their hearts and the Lord's name on their lips, the guest began departing slowly. KARUNA VISHWANATH IX 'B' |
