The senior school day of Bala Vidya Mandir was held on Saturday 30th July, 2011.The theme for the evening was an over view of the Indian Culture from an Indian perspective in which students as travellers introduced the audience to the various plays.
The Chief Guest for the occasion was Mrs. Deborah Thiagarajan, President and Founder, Madras Craft Foundation. Over 480 students from Classes VI to XII participated in the various programmes. The orchestra rendered two songs in praise of the gods . The Sanskrit play highlighted the importance of hospitality to one’s guest.
It was followed by the Tamil play which depicted the devotion of Paranjothiyar towards Lord Siva .The junior English play brought forth the necessity to spend time with one’s family. The Hindi play used humour to show the advancement in the field of technology.
The students mesmerized the audience with a ballet performance followed by a bharatnatyam recital depicting the Panch Shiva sthalangals . The evening came to an end with the senior English play which dealt with the genre of call centres and how they fleece their clients. Teachers were also conferred meritorious service awards and were recognized for their contribution to the institution.
