The day’s proceedings started with an invocation of the Almighty. The prayer was followed by the flag hoisting to the tune of the national anthem played by the school band. After the flag hoisting, the students of class 4 and 5 rendered the flag song in hindi and in tamil.

 


Then the march past was held in which the four houses marched in the following order- kailash, kanchenjunga, neelkanth and nangaparbat. The houses were led by their captains.

After the march past, Shruthi Ishwar gave the welcome address which was followed by Aditya of class 4-c who rendered a speech in hindi on the importance of republic day and our contribution to republic India. The girls of 8th standard then raised our spirits with a patriotic song in tamil after which young Milan Nair of 5 C gave an inspiring speech in English.

Some students danced to the tune of Bharatiyar’s song. That was followed by a speech in Sanskrit by Krishna and Sri Vidya of class 8 on the freedom fighters of India. The students of classes 6 and 7 sang a song in hindi followed by a speech on our duties to our motherland India by Sunaina. After her speech, the students of classes 5 and 6 demonstrated their amazing flexibility and yoga skills. Aanchal V spoke in Hindi on the sacrifices that our leaders had made to acquire independence and the students of class 6 and 7 danced to the tune of ‘Vishaala Vishwam Lo’.

Shreya of class 9 gave a speech in English on how celebrating national events would arouse patriotic fervour amongst its citizens, followed by which students of classes 9 and 11 sang a gujarati song highlighting the role of youth in India. Manisha from 8 A gave a speech to remind us that the freedom we have acquired with great difficulty cannot be taken for granted , through a speech in Tamil.

This was followed by the release of the school magazine by our school principal and the project prize distribution. To mark the end of the ceremony, Shreyas VP of class 11 gave the vote of thanks.
