Independence Day

Independence Day celebrations were held on 15th August 2009, Saturday at the school premises at 6.55 am. The Chief Guest for the Independence Day was R.Harshan of class XII B. the celebrations commenced with the unfurling of the National Flag, followed by the National Anthem and the Flag Song. Students of classes VI to XII attended the function. Speeches on the freedom fighters and the significance of our Independence struggle were delivered in English, Hindi, Tamil and Sanskrit. The students also sang patriotic songs on the occasion. The programme lasted for an hour and concluded with the distribution of sweets.

The Kindergarten celebrated the Independence Day in the KG Block on 17th August 2009. The KG block was decorated with tricolored thoranam. Children dressed in school uniform, waved the tricolored flag and sang songs about the National flag. The celebration came to an end with the song “Raghupathy Ragava” a favourite with Mahatma Gandhi. Sweets were distributed to the children.

The Independence day celebrations for the Primary classes was held in the Basement auditorium on 17th August 2009. The students were enthralled to see a parade of leaders like Netaji, Gandhiji, Nehru to mention a few and were taken back to time through a power point presentation on Freedom struggle. The patriotic spirit was further inculcated in them as they saw skits on Rani of Jhansi and Chatrapati Shivaji. The impressionable young minds in unison sang the flag song and said ‘JAI HIND’ before the curtain fell on the proceedings.

 

Alumni

On 24th of December 2009 about sixty alumni members, teachers and support staff, congregated at the school campus for a re- union. Students as early as the 1988 batch revisited their alma mater to connect with their juniors, teachers and support staff of the school.
