Heritage Club

The Heritage Club of Bala Vidya Mandir endeavours to enlighten the children about the rich Indian Culture. In this process the student members of the club are involved in various activities by which they visit Heritage sites, participate in quiz, paint various Heritage sites of Chennai and India and hold exhibitions of Heritage objects. They also learn to draw kolams. At present the members are making short films on Heritage activities to be posted on a website which the students from the other parts of the country can view. To instill and educate the children with values and keep them deep rooted in the traditional culture of India, the club devices activities which they enjoy and learn.

THE HERITAGE CLUB ACTIVITIES

July:

    • Inauguration of Heritage Club for the academic year 2009 – 2010 was held on 6th July 2009. The club members interacted with Dr.Suresh, the Convenor of INTACH on various Heritage Aspects.
 

August:

    • Conducted a drawing activity on various heritage sites of Chennai for Young Intach Magazine.
    • The members participated in the Madras Day celebration.
    • Visited  Theosophical Society
    • Powerpoint presentation for a competition.
 

September:

    • Participated in a coin designing competition hosted by Sankara School.
    • Participated in CBSE Heritage Quiz.
    • Attended a workshop called ‘Film it’ hosted by INTACH, Delhi. The Heritage Club of Bala Vidya Mandir was recognized as one of the fine Heritage clubs of schools in Chennai. A camera was given by Helen Hamlin Trust to the members of Bala Vidya Mandir Heritage Club to make short films.
 

 

 

 

Alumni

On 24th of December 2009 about sixty alumni members, teachers and support staff, congregated at the school campus for a re- union. Students as early as the 1988 batch revisited their alma mater to connect with their juniors, teachers and support staff of the school.
