Science Expo - 2011
The interschool science expo 2011 was held on 6th August at Bala Vidya Mandir. Participants from about 30 schools attended the event. The aim of the expo is to nurture young talents in science and to facilitate the exchange of innovative ideas in the field of science. The event was conducted by the students of class 9.The event began at 9 a.m. with the CEO of our school Mr. S.S. Nathan inaugurating the event. He also gave the audience a speech about young talents taking up science.
There were 2 categories into which the events were divided –physical science and life science. Many events like Quiz, Crossword, Flash fantasy took place simultaneously. The quiz and crossword events were divided into two rounds – preliminary and final. Students had made interesting models related to science. They had covered many unusual and rare topics. The panel of judges were pleased with the efforts of the students. The BVM students from classes 6 to 8 and 10 came to watch the exhibits and the events.
The official function commenced at 3 p.m.. The chief guest Mr. R Shankaran addressed the audience and spoke about the importance of science. He then distributed the certificates to the winners and participants of various events. PS Senior secondary school were declared the overall winners and they received a shield.
It was an innovative and thought provoking expo.
