Horlicks Wiz kid

HORLICKS WIZ KIDS
Horlicks Wiz Kids, the national level inter-school cultural fiesta, came to Chennai this year on 1st & 2nd of July. Kamarajar Arangam positively burst at its seams with the ineffable enthusiasm on the part of students from various city schools. Our school students took part in many events with great zeal. The Dumb-C team battled it out for the 1st place. Yazhini (Std VII) and Pranathi (Std XII) took part in city level wiz-kid finals. The two days were full of fun and memories to be long cherished.

REFLECTIONS
Vidya Mandir, Mylapore organized its annual cultural extravaganza on the 3rd & 4th of July in which our school were the ‘Runners Up’ of the cultural fest. Some of the victorious std XI students of a few events are as follows. Lakshmi Narayanan, Arjith Retna & Ashwin secured the 1st place in the Voice over event. The quiz team comprising of Rohan Jaishankar, Prahlad & K.S.Varun secured the 3rd place. S.Prashanth was placed 1st for his convincing oration to save his life on a sinking boat in the shipwreck event. Sanchit Shivakumar of Std X made his way to the 3rd place for his extraordinary arguments in the Debate event.

CULTURAL FIESTA
The cultural fiesta of Bharathi Vidyalaya Sr. Sec. School was held at the TCS Auditorium, Sholinganallur. Students of Std XI participated in various events and were the overall winners of the P.R.Subramanian Rolling Trophy. Among the winners were Tanmay Shankar who stood 1st place in poetry writing, N.Aparna secured the 2nd place in painting, Rohan Jaishankar & K.S.Varun secured the 1st place in quiz. S.Prashanth was adjudged the ‘Star of the Meet’.

Kalpakosha

KALPAKOSHA
The inter-school cultural competition of Sir Sivaswamy Kalalaya – KALPAKOSHA ’09 was held on Aug 3rd & 4th which witnessed enthusiastic minds from different schools competing with each other. Bala Vidya Mandir emerged Runners Up in the festival. The victorious XI std students of various events are as follows: Ramana Shiva, Rohan Jaishankar & Arjith Retna secured the 3rd place in Quiz. Krutika Srikrishna, Shloka Narayanan & Deekshita secured the 1st place in the Radio show event. Lakshman Balaji, Tanmay Shankar & Prahlad secured the 1st place in cartooning. N.Aparna, A.Aparna & Arundati Ramesh secured the 2nd place in the jewellery designing event.

PRADHARSHINI
An inter-school cultural Science fest of Sri Sankara Vidyashram was held on Aug 10th & 11th in which our school was the Overall Winner of the Mahadeva Iyer Rolling Trophy.  The fest was sponsored by the Tamil Nadu Science and Technology Centre & Science city, Chennai. Our school higher secondary students participated in various events like elocution, debate, radio show, cartooning etc. while the middle school students participated in events like multimedia presentation, music etc. The primary students also had their handson experience of the culturals winning in the drawing & colouring event. To name a few winning events – Group singing on conserving environment – 1st place, Elocution for std VIII – 1st place, Cartooning – Seniors – 1st & 2nd place, Radio show – 3rd place, Drawing & colouring – Primary - 1st & 2nd . The prizes were given away by Dr.Iyyamperumal, Director, TN Science & Technology Centre, who graced the valedictory function.

REVERBERATIONS
Reverberations ’09 was conducted by the PSBB group of schools on 31st of Aug, 1st & 2nd September at Vani Mahal. Of the many students who took part in the various events, students of our school qualified for the finals. Some of the prizes won were 2nd place to Tanvi in Shipwreck, 2nd place in the voice over to Rajaverma & Karthik, 3rd place to the  Adzap team, 2nd place in basketball skills to Harshan & Prashanth, 3rd place in football skills, 1st place in remote car racing  to S.Bharath and trailer making 1st place to Karun & Prasad, 2nd place in mono acting to Karun and  1st place to Pranathi in JAM. Tanvi and Pranathi made it to the finals of the Mr and Ms. Reverbs. The Bala Vidya Mandir team emerged as  Second Runners Up overall.

SCINTILLATIONS

The students of class XII attended “Scintillations”, the culturals held by P.S.Senior Sec. School, Mylapore. The overall trophy was bagged by our school students, after winning a variety of events. The events were spread over two days. The preliminary rounds of the events were held at the school campus on the first day, October 14th. The finals and the ultimate “Scintillator” event were held at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan the next day. Our school students excelled in many events. Some of the prize-winners include: Punya Srikanth and Drishya Gautham. 1st in spin-a-yarn; Karun Ramani and Prasad Rao, 1st in Poster designing and cartooning; Rajaverma.K.E, AShwin Ramesh, Ram Charan, Karthik, Sethu Nachiappan and Arjun Gopal, 1st in Adzap; Ranjith.V, Srikanth Aswin and Vishnu Rao, 2nd in Quiz and Pranathi Diwakar, 1st in J.A.M. In the final “Scintillator” event, winners of six major events had to prove their mettle in three grueling rounds – the talent round, block and tackle and the RJ/VJ round. Four out of the six finalists were from our school – Drishya Gautham, Pranathi Diwakar, Punya Srikanth and Rajaverma.K.E. Pranathi came runner-up and Rajaverma came second runner-up. The winners of the events were given gift vouchers and our school students were awarded a rolling shield for standing first at “Scintillations”.

 

 

 

Alumni

On 24th of December 2009 about sixty alumni members, teachers and support staff, congregated at the school campus for a re- union. Students as early as the 1988 batch revisited their alma mater to connect with their juniors, teachers and support staff of the school.
