Blood Donation Camp

Blood Donation Camp - 26th January 2010


26th January 2010, Republic Day was made eventful by the members of the Interact Club and Karuna Club, of Bala Vidya Mandir, Adyar. They combined their efforts to organize the blood donation camp and the basement auditorium of the school got transformed into a hospital.


The Madras Blood Bank Bureau a non profit voluntary organization along with doctors from VHS (Voluntary Health Services) conducted the proceedings.


The event commenced at 9.30 a.m and saw a steady flow of volunteers which included teachers, parents and other well wishers.


The following sequence of activities unravelled:

  1. The individual’s weight was checked to ensure it was over 50 kgs.
  2. The haemoglobin level was listed to ensure that it was over 12.5
  3. The blood pressure of the donor was tested to ensure that this prescribed to the normal acceptable level.

Energizers were provided to the donors after the blood donation. The camp was a success with about 80 donors attributing to the success. The CEO, Principal and Vice Principals guided the students. The students of both the Interact and Karuna Club toiled hard facilitated by teacher coordinators of the clubs. Hygiene was maintained inspite of it being a temporary clinic.


In appreciation the school was given a certificate. The members of the clubs felt a sense of satisfaction at the end of the camp and look forward to conducting it next year.

 

Alumni

On 24th of December 2009 about sixty alumni members, teachers and support staff, congregated at the school campus for a re- union. Students as early as the 1988 batch revisited their alma mater to connect with their juniors, teachers and support staff of the school.
