Amul Vidya Shree

Arjith Retna of Std XI was awarded the title of ‘AMUL VIDYA SHREE’ for his outstanding Academic Performance in the CBSE Examination held in April 2009. He was awarded with a citation, a trophy and books on Vivekananda at the Amul Vidya Awards Ceremony held at Sri Ramakrishna Math on January 7th, 2010.

Yuva Sangarsh

Out of the 12 students who participated in “Yuva Sangarsh”, the Swami Vivekananda Youth Leadership Award programme, 6 students went into the quarter finals. Krutika Sri Krishna of XI- C went into the semi final and final round. Out of a total of 240 students, she was one of the ten finalists. The competition involved various rounds of extempore speaking, discussions and debates all based on the values and principles of Swami Vivekananda. The finals were conducted on December 5th. Eminent personalities such as Mr.N.Vittal of the IAS, Commandor Shekhar, Mr. Vishwanath, Director of the National Aerospace Laboratory, Bangalore judged the students based on their communication skills and values. Krutika received a certificate, set of 5 books, a wrist watch, calendar and a gold plated trophy.

Zonal Informatics Olympiad

The Zonal Informatics Olympiad (ZIO), conducted by the Indian Association for Research in Computing Science (IARCS) in collaboration with the CBSE, was held on 5th December 2009. It is the first stage in the Indian Computing Process. 260 students were selected from the ZIO to write the Indian National Olympiad in Informatics (INOI), the second stage was held on 24th January 2010. ZIO consists of four questions based on logical reasoning. The INOI is a programming contest consisting of two questions.

  3. S.Divya – XII A

Around 20 students will be selected from the INOI for the International Olympiad in Informatics Training Camp (IOITC) for which 4 students will be selected to represent India at the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI).

Regional Mathematics Olympiad

The AMTI conducted the Regional Mathematics Olympiad on 29th of November 2009; our students won merit positions at the inter level and received cash prizes. The students are:

  1. S.Siddharth of class XII A secured third position and received a cash prize of Rs.1250/-
  2. B.Saikrishna of class XII A secured seventh position and received a cash prize of Rs.100/-

National Standard Examination in Physics

National Standard Examination in Physics (NSEP) is being conducted every year since 1987. More than 40,000 students at over 1200 centres, appear for this examination. This examination leads to participation in the National and International Olympiads.

Below are the students (in each subject) who are eligible for second stage of Olympiad programme.

These students will qualify for the Indian National Olympiad in the respective subjects to be organized by Homi Bhabha Centre of Science Education, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai.

National Bal Shree Award - 2009

The Tamil Nadu Jawahar Children’s Association organized a state level inter-school creative Science & Arts competition from 18th July – 26th July. Diya Naresh Rao of Class IX of Bala Vidya Mandir Sr. Sec. School participated in the Creative Scientific Innovation event and was qualified for the Zonal level which was held at Trivandrum on 15th & 16th September. She is now selected for the National level which is to be held at Delhi in December 2009 for the President Bal Shree Award.

NAT Geo Hunt -3

Natgeo

The National Geography Society is a large non-profit organization which aims to increase and diffuse geographic knowledge among students. NAT GEO HUNT-3 was a nation wide hunt for Smart Geo Kids. R.Ruthuparan Prasad of class VI was short listed in the top 10 students among 650 students in the city finals held on Nov 15th. He is one among the 4 students who will take part in the National level adventure camp. He also received a scholarship of Rs.20, 000/- (Twenty Thousand) from Aviva Life Insurance.

B.Saikrishna and Padmapriya – Recipients of  Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVYP) Fellowship

B.Saikrishna and Padmapriya  of class XII have been selected as fellows of  Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVYP) instituted by the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. Having been selected from among 500 students, their scholarship allows them a sum of Rs.4000 a month till their Ph.D level. They attended a special contact programme between the 9th and 13th of October that aimed in developing them to research scientist.
